Mental Health Practitioner (ARMHS Program)

Job Description: The Mental Health Practitioner provides rehabilitative mental health services to adults diagnosed with serious mental illnesses under the ARMHS program. This role involves assisting clients in developing and enhancing psychiatric stability, social competencies, personal and emotional adjustment, and independent living skills. Practitioners work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to create and implement individualized treatment plans, conduct functional assessments, and deliver person-centered services in clients’ homes or community settings. 

Qualifications: According to Minnesota Statutes, section 245I.04, subdivision 4, an individual is qualified as a Mental Health Practitioner if they meet one of the following criteria: 

Educational Background and Experience: 

Completed at least 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in behavioral sciences or related fields and: 

Have at least 2,000 hours of supervised experience providing services to individuals with mental illness or substance use disorders; or 

Are fluent in the non-English language of the ethnic group to which at least 50% of their clients belong, and have completed required training before providing direct services. 

Work Experience: 

Have at least 4,000 hours of experience in delivering services to individuals with mental illness or substance use disorders. 

Advanced Degree: 

Hold a master’s or other graduate degree in behavioral sciences or related fields. 

Additionally, all Mental Health Practitioners must complete specific training as outlined in section 245I.05, subdivision 3, paragraph (c), before providing direct services.
