Job Description: The ARMHS Worker, also known as a Mental Health Rehabilitation Worker, supports clients in achieving mental health recovery goals by providing direct assistance in areas such as medication education, crisis planning, relapse prevention, and independent living skills. This role involves implementing interventions outlined in individualized treatment plans, facilitating skill-building activities, and promoting community integration. Services are primarily delivered in clients’ homes or community environments to encourage the application of skills in real-world settings.
Qualifications: Per Minnesota Statutes, section 245I.04, subdivision 14, a Mental Health Rehabilitation Worker must:
Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Complete the training required under section 245I.05, subdivision 3, paragraph (c).
Meet at least one of the following criteria:
Be fluent in the non-English language or competent in the culture of the ethnic group to which at least 20% of their clients belong.
Have an associate degree.
Have completed two years of full-time post secondary education or 15 semester hours or 23 quarter hours in behavioral sciences or related fields.
Be a registered nurse.
Have, within the previous ten years, three years of personal life experience with mental illness.
Have, within the previous ten years, three years of life experience as a primary caregiver to an adult with mental illness, traumatic brain injury, substance use disorder, or developmental disability.
Have, within the previous ten years, 2,000 hours of work experience providing health and human services to individuals.
Note: Mental Health Rehabilitation Workers exclusively scheduled as overnight staff are exempt from the additional qualification requirements listed above.
